Face and Neck

Face & Neck

Dr. Hardik Ganatra specializes in both facelifts and body contouring procedures, offering comprehensive solutions to enhance your appearance. A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin from the face, neck, or both, and lift the underlying tissues to improve facial appearance and contour. Techniques such as the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) lift, SMAS plication, and deep plane facelift effectively address issues like wrinkles, sagging folds, jowls, double chins, marionette lines, prominent nasolabial folds, and neckbands, providing a more defined facial structure.

In addition to facelifts, Dr. Ganatra’s expertise in body contouring allows him to help patients achieve their desired body shape. Whether it’s through liposuction, tummy tucks, or other body sculpting techniques, he is committed to delivering outstanding results.

It’s important to note that a facelift does not correct excess skin and laxity in the eyelids and forehead. For these areas, a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and a brow lift are often performed in conjunction with a facelift to achieve a more comprehensive rejuvenation.

FACE & NECK FAQS

What is Classical Blepharoplasty and how does Dr. Ganatra do it?

This procedure involves removal of excess skin and/or fat and recreates the natural youthful appearance of the upper eyelids. The scar is carefully placed in the natural upper eyelid crease which makes it imperceptible.

It is a painless 3 step daycare procedure done under Local anesthesia.

  1. Injection of Local anesthetic
  2. Removal of excess skin and/or fat
  3. Suturing using dissolvable/non dissolvable sutures.

Candidates :

  1. Upper lid/Lower lid excess skin
  2. Fat bulge in the region
  3. Loose skin forming wrinkles
  4. Realistic expectations

Note : Dr. Ganatra conceals the scar in the upper eyelid natural crease (for upper blepharoplasty) and just below the eyelash skin (in lower blepharoplasty) leaving no tell-tale signs of surgery. Done under local anesthesia, this is a short procedure with very little downtime and high satisfaction rates.

What is Asian Blepharoplasty?

This is done for the Asian population in whom the upper eyelid crease might be absent (completely or partially) (50% incidence).

Also called “Double eyelid operation”, this involves creation of supratarsal crease (natural upper lid crease)

This procedure helps correct the passive, monotonous look (sleepy look) and creates an expressive look.

It is a painless daycare procedure (4 steps) done under Local anesthesia.

  1. Injection of Local anesthetic
  2. Removal of excess skin (if present)
  3. Suturing the muscle with the skin to form the crease
  4. Skin suturing using dissolvable/non dissolvable sutures

Candidates :

  1. Patient desiring a crease in the upper eyelids
  2. Patient desiring an expressive look
  3. Realistic expectations

Note : This procedure doesn’t change the racial orientation of the patient. It is meant to enhance beauty of the eyes by creating a natural crease in the upper eyelid (that is present in 50% of the population)

What is Ear reshaping or Otoplasty?

Otoplasty is also known as cosmetic ear surgery and serves to change the shape, position or size of the ears. Ears could be visibly protruding  from the sides of the head, or they might be larger than usual or have an abnormal shape and this can be an aesthetic concern for these patients. Most people wanting this surgery are in their childhood due to constant bullying by peers at school. Adults having traumatic childhood memories of the same or having lack of self confidence also form a substantial chunk of otoplasty patients in the practice.

How does he do it?

Dr. Ganatra performs an otoplasty in a hospital setting on an outpatient basis. The surgery takes between one to two hours under local anesthesia, and the patient can go home afterwards.

The surgery can be performed using several techniques. He makes incisions either at the back of the ears (for protruding ears) or within the inner creases of the ears. The ear size can be reduced by removing the excess amount of cartilage and skin, or the ear volume can be increased by adding cartilage grafts. The incisions are then closed with sutures.

Candidates :

  • Age 5 years or older
  • Non smokers
  • Ears protruding from the head
  • Ears larger or smaller than normal
  • Have an abnormal shape due to trauma, or a structural issue from birth
  • Realistic expectations

Note : This procedure aims to achieve ears looking close to normal or even more aesthetic. Dr. Ganatra conceals the scars in hidden areas making this procedure look virtually scarless. Done with patient awake under local anesthesia, this procedure has minimal downtime and has high satisfaction rates.

Ear lobe repair

Split ear lobes due to prolonged use of heavy earrings or after trauma is a very common aesthetic concern. Often women come with complaints of inability to wear certain types of earrings due to stretched or torn ear hole.

An ear lobe repair is a simple and effective surgery done under local anesthesia with no downtime and has high satisfaction rates. The incision heals very well making this surgery virtually scarless. Sutures can be removed after 1 week and patients can wear their regular earrings within 3 weeks after the surgery.

Fat Transfer

Aging can lead to volume loss in ear lobes just like any other area. Flattened ear lobes are often neglected, however present as an occasional concern either aesthetically or functionally in terms of inability to wear earrings.

The solution is a simple surgical procedure of fat transfer to the ear lobes. 10-20 ml of fat can be harvested from stubborn fat pockets and injected under local anesthesia. This procedure is becoming very popular, especially with the advantage of longevity of the results (permanent).

What is a lip lift?

A lip lift is a short surgical procedure that reduces the space between the nose and the top of the lip.

Benefits :

  • The procedure increases the amount of pink tissue (vermilion)  that is visible which makes the lips look fuller and more pronounced.
  • It also increases how much of the upper central teeth show when the lips are resting.
  • It also decreases the distance between the nose tip and the upper lip.

Types of lip lift :

Direct lip lift (incision made just above the border of the upper lip)

Indirect (Bull’s Horn) lip lift (incision made just under the nostrils)

Lip lift is a simple, effective cosmetic surgery done under local anesthesia that can make the upper lip look larger and the contour more pronounced. Lip lifts are a permanent solution unlike lip implants or filler injections.

Candidates :

  • Clients looking for a well defined cupid’s bow without the “duck lip” look from implants or temporary effect of filler
  • Older people who want to reduce the thinning of the lips that happens with age are also good candidates for lip lifts.
  • Lip reduction

Lip reduction surgery involves removing tissues from the lower or upper lips, or sometimes both. This aims to achieve smaller and nicely shaped lips.

The procedure is done under local or general anesthesia. Dr. Ganatra makes an incision in the pink inner portion of the lips. This leads to minimal scarring. He then removes excess fat and tissues from the lip to reduce its volume. Once enough tissues are removed, he closes up the incision with stitches. These usually fall off on their own within a few days or weeks.

Candidates :

  • People who have naturally large lips
  • People who have larger than desired lips from a prior augmentation surgery.

Fat transfer

This is an uncommon, but effective way of permanently increasing the volume of the lips. This is done under local anesthesia, fat is harvested from stubborn areas and injected in the lips.

This is much better and safer than permanent fillers in the lips which have shown to have unpredictable complications.

What are the procedures done on the cheek?

Not everyone finds chubby cheeks cute!

Chubby cheeks could be an aesthetic concern for many and sometimes this fat happens to be stubborn and fails to go despite endless dieting. Some patients also have genetic tendency to deposit fat in their face.

The procedure to remove this fat is called Liposuction of face. This is usually accompanied with liposuction of neck to contour the jawline and remove the double chin fat.

Vaser is usually used to help in skin tightening.

The procedure can be done under local or general anesthesia with tiny, hidden incisions.

After the procedure, a garment is supposed to be worn for a week throughout the day and night following which it can worn for 12 hours for another week. A lymphatic massage is useful to get rid of the swelling faster and give beautiful results.

Why Dr.Ganatra for face sculpting in Dubai?

Dr.Ganatra is one of the few surgeons in the world who performs this procedure to excellence and has countless happy patients testifying the same. He uses his artistic skills to contour and sculpt the face and neck creating a youthful V shaped or heart shaped face.

He sometimes performs this procedure with buccal fat removal to give an exaggerated hollow for certain clients who wish to have a supermodel look.

Buccal fat reduction/ Bichectomy

The buccal fat pad is a small mass of fat in the center of the cheek located between facial muscles below the cheekbone. The size of the  buccal fat pads affects shape of the face.

Patients who have larger buccal fat pads might feel the their face is too round or full (baby face).

The solution to this problem is a simple day care procedure done under local anesthesia called Bichectomy (Buccal fat removal).

Dr. Ganatra makes an incision from inside the mouth (in the cheeks) and removes a small amount of this fat pad. The incision is closed with absorbable sutures making it scarless.

Note : This procedure gives a hollow in the central part of the cheek. Dr. Ganatra doesn’t remove excess amount of this fat which ensures that the patients do not have a gaunt look after the surgery.

  • Dimple surgery (Dimpleplasty/Dimple creation)

A dimpleplasty is a cosmetic procedure of creating dimples on the cheeks.

Not everyone is blessed with dimples. To some dimples are a sign of beauty, good luck, and even fortune.

Dr. Ganatra fulfills their desire by creating natural looking dimples with a very simple and effective day care procedure.

Before the procedure, the site of dimple (one or both sides) is very meticulously planned in accordance with the patients’ desires.

This procedure is done under local anesthesia wherein he makes a tiny incision from inside the mouth and takes a suture with the muscle and the dermis of the skin at the desired pre marked site.

Initially the dimple looks static (present even without any facial expressions) for about 3-4 weeks after the surgery, following which it becomes dynamic (visible only with certain expressions).

Note : Dr. Ganatra sometimes performs this procedure along with buccal fat reduction to achieve even sharper results.

What are the procedures done on the chin?
  • Chin Implant (Genioplasty)

Chin implants are usually done in patients who desire to change the appearance of the chin by reshaping, enlarging, or pushing it forward. This can be accomplished by a simple procedure done under local or general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

Dr. Ganatra uses implants made of either Silicone or Medpore (High density polyethelene) to correct or enhance the appearance of the chin.

This procedure can be performed by an incision from inside the mouth (intraoral) or just underneath the chin (submental crease).

This procedure has minimal downtime and is highly rewarding in terms of facial profile balancing.

  • Double chin liposuction

A double chin (submental fat) is the fat that forms below the chin which is an aesthetic concern for most people. It also makes one look older than he/she is. A double chin can be due to excessive weight gain, but it can also be due to genetic tendency.

The solution for this common and annoying problem is a simple surgical procedure in the form of vaser liposuction to remove the fat and tighten up the skin.

This procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia wherein Dr. Ganatra makes  tiny incisions under the chin in the crease and under the ear lobes, injects the tumescent solution, performs vaser to tighten the skin and emulsify the fat and then suctions out the fat. The procedure is done in a hospital setting as a day care surgery and is very gratifying in terms of minimal downtime and high patient satisfaction rates.

Note : Dr. Ganatra usually combines this procedure with a face and neck liposuction in patients desiring an overall improvement in the facial contours. He is one of the few surgeons who is well known for his work in face and neck sculpting with liposuction.

  • Fat transfer

Fat transfer to the face is becoming a popular treatment as people tend to lose fat due to massive weight loss in younger population or with ageing. Dr. Ganatra also uses this treatment option in patients with deep atrophic acne scars or traumatic scars.

Fat transfer can be done either as microfat (which adds volume to the injected areas) or as nanofat (which serves to rejuvenate the skin). Fat is harvested by liposuction of a small area (microliposuction) following which it is processed into micro and nano fat and injected accordingly.

The areas commonly injected for adding volume are temples, cheeks, chin, jawline and neck wrinkles.

Note : Dr. Ganatra ensures that he adds volume in the right places to balance the facial profile and make the face look youthful. Overdoing this procedure can lead to fat growth in future and lead to chubby face (fat face) and Dr. Ganatra ensures he injects the right amount in the right place.

  • Scar revision and correction

Facial scars could be an aftermath of an accident, burns or a surgical procedure. Unsightly scars could be a cause of grave concern for the patients.

Scar revision does not remove the scar but helps to make it less noticeable and more acceptable. Both surgical and non-surgical techniques, used either alone or in combination can be used to do the job.

Some scars can be treated non surgically and made to look better or almost invisible, like Lasers (Fractional CO2 laser, Erbium YAG laser, Q switched / Pico laser), Microneedling with Platelet rich Plasma (PRP),  Chemical Peels, injectable fillers

Surgical modalities like Dermabrasion, Fat transfer to the scars with subcision (Micro/nano fat), Scar revision (excision and suturing) (Elliptical excision, Z plasty, W plasty, etc.)
